Carolyn is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the School of Information Studies at McGill University. Prior to joining the ACT Lab, Carolyn completed her PhD at Simon Fraser University, where she was recognized with several awards, including an NSERC Postgraduate Scholarship and the Google Anita Borg Scholarship. Her research interests lie at the intersection of design, urban computing and social computing, where she focuses on studying, designing, and evaluating digital technologies to support urban life. She is currently extending her doctoral work into the emerging areas of smart cities and the Internet of Places. In this space, her goal is to understand the social, organizational, and cultural needs of aging adults to ensure accessibility, mobility, and inclusion in the design of smart city initiatives.
